Presidents of India
In the largest democracy in the world, the president of India is its head of state. As per Article 56 of the Constitution of India, the president is elected by an electoral college consisting of elected members of both houses of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies in every state, and serves for a term of five years with no term limits, though they can be impeached by Parliament and are removable by a resolution passed by their respective legislatures.
The president appoints the prime minister after consultation with political parties and holds other powers as well, including emergency powers that allow him or her to rule by decree during national crises such as war or internal disorder.
